Last week, we took off to California for the 2017 ALC UNConference; a series of focus groups with top executives in the language industry. We had a lot of fun, and exchanged plenty advice and ideas about the future of the language industry.
One of the biggest talking points was the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in machine translation (MT). The consensus: MT is getting better, but humans translators are still crucial. The internet has expedited the evolution of language and terminology. When will MT detect nuances like sarcasm?
